We never had proms when I was a lad, I consider it a nasty idea nicked from American teen movies. We had school discos and you got to snog behind the bike sheds after a can of weak shandy.
I hope I am not getting the wrong end of the stick about this.
Actually we didn’t have a prom, but we did have a Christmas disco which had a similar function. Like most of the boys I hung round gawping at the girls and thinking about asking them to dance etc. But basically chickened out. If I had my time again I would be more self-confident.
Sorry – stupid of me maybe but I don’t understand the question. Can you leave a comment to clarify? Cheers!
Ah – now that I’ve seen a couple of other answers, I see what you mean. We never really had a ‘prom’ at our school. There was a ‘social’ (i.e. disco) organised in the 6th form but everyone went along to that and there was no pressure to ask a girl out. Thank goodness – ‘cos I was painfully shy.
We never had a prom when I was at school, we had to do with the annual school disco at which I used to stand around looking at the girls all dancing around their handbags and wishing I had the nerve to ask one of them to dance.
