We have a cat (after intense lobbying from the children). She is called Moonbeam and is a delightful creature. I love it that cats are so independent and disdainful of their owners.
Hi Hazel
Not really pets but we do keep chickens who are all named after famous female physicists – I know it’s sad! We started with four chickens – Marie, Monica, Lisa and Ruth. I suppose we should have named one after Henrietta Leavitt (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henrietta_Swan_Leavitt ) who should be better known than she is.
No I don’t at the moment! I have a baby and she keeps me busy enough! I had a cat all the way though school and when I was younger I had a pet sheep called Minty who I used to take for walks on a lead.
No. Unfortunately I am allergic to dogs and cats (they give me asthma), otherwise I would probably have a dog.
I really do not like cats much, and I cannot understand how they’ve conned us into giving them food and shelter when they so obviously have nothing but disdain for humans – you can see it written all over their feline faces.
Ehem, sorry – not very scientific or objective there. Where was I?
I’d be quite keen on a chameleon or cuttlefish (they both change colour and have numerous other unusual adaptations), but I think they are difficult to look after, and they might suffer short and unhappy lives in my care.
