Hi Giuola – that they are very hard to detect! Well, to be honest we knew that already….they are what we call weakly interacting, which is a bit of a party pooper to us!

In my research I was involved in making a small part of a neutrino detector. in the detector every now and again a neutrino will interact, which means it will change into another particle – this will usually be an electron or another particle called a muon (this is like an electron but bigger). So my detector acutally detects this muon. I use something called scintillator, which gives off light when a muon passes through it – we measure the light. In my research I found the best type of scintillator for the experiment. It;s a small part of a very big experiment.
