      Hi FTYBR

Organise a massive sponsored event and give them the money if they agree to stay…?

      Good luck with that!

You probably can’t do this, as your teacher most likely made the decision after a lot of soul-searching. Maybe they need to move to a different part of the country, or get a new kind of job for family reasons – they have to put family first. It might help to tell your teacher how much you value them. I put my science teacher’s name on my profile, because I really wanted to say thank you (unfortunately I doubt he’ll read this). Mind you I should probably have mentioned a couple of others, too (e.g., Denby Allen, who was another of my Biology Teachers).

I only just starting to understand just how much difference committed schoolteachers make – but I ought to have known; I am married to a science teacher (and she might read this – so brownie points for me).

I’m not sure you can. I’ll bet your teacher has given loads of thought to their decision, it’s never easy to decide that you’ll move on in any job and leaving behind students that you’ve worked with over the years makes it doubly hard!
      Bribes might work?
