• Question: If you won would you invent anything other than your cosmic ray jacket? How would your invention effect us?

      Hi Catarina, I think my cosmic ray jacket will cost the whole £500, so i don’t think i’ll be able to do anything else from my winnings! I’d like to be able to bring it to your school though, so you could check it out and hopefully learn from it. It would help you to see how we detect particles which is the most important part of particle physics – it would help you for example understand how part of the Large Hadron Collider in Cern work.

      For the future I am also putting in another funding application to take a cosmic ray detector into schools, so i hope i manage to do it! Ulimately can you imagine if your school had its own cosmic ray detector? You could do long term science projects on cosmic rays, investigating them, their energies, directions and analysing your results – that would be real science at your school.
