The evil folk from IASGMOOH kicked down my lab door and held my students to ransom. I’m here shut in a darkened room, chained to a PC, and forced to answer questions all day!
Hi Hazel – No one forced me – I volunteered. What a mug!
I hesitated at first because I wasn’t sure I would be able to spare the time to get involved. It is quite demanding, taking about 2 hrs per day at the moment but it’s well worth it – I’ve enjoyed it so far (though some of the questions have been very tough!). Looking forward to the cut and thrust of the first live chat!
The organisers of IASGMOOH are holding my chickens to ransom and won’t let them go until the competition is over!
Seriously, I enjoy talking about science and thought it would be fun to take part. I didn’t quite realise how many questions we would be asked and it’s really making me think about many things, not all related to science!
Looking forward to my first Live Chat later this week.
ha ha ha what a great questions Hazel! I totally decided to enter in myself, I thought it looked a lot of fun. One of my really good friends won his zone in the last IAS and I followed him a bit. I saw a lot of it on twitter and thought yeah i fancy doing that!
No I wasn’t forced, but I admit I didn’t quite realize what I was getting into. When I found out, I took a few deep breaths and gulped, but I am pretty excited about it, and I know the others are too.
Hazel, you have just made me laugh out loud. Has my reputation for arm-twisting people spread so far that you students have heard about it?
No, no-one was forced into taking part. They all volunteered. Although, as some of the scientists say above, I don’t think they all realised what they were getting themselves into. *evil grin*
OK, they *mostly* volunteered. Jo Broadbent in IVF zone is an old Uni friend of mine, and I totally did force her into it. Sorry Jo!
