last proper holiday was spent at Easter in a great hotel on the North Norfolk coast…lots of slobbing, walking, birdwatching and good food and wine.

I had a holiday around Christmas, but I stayed at home. Last summer, we stayed in a tipi in the middle of nowhere (a wood in Suffolk). There was no running water and the toilet was a hole in the ground underneath a shed – one of the best holidays I’ve every had, believe it or not.

I went to Venice for a few days the weekend after easter. Very nice (though very pricey!).

Funniest moment – we step into the mediaeval Doge’s Palace and my son—who’s never been to Venice—says “I recognise this! It’s in Assassin’s Creed 2 – you have to fight this guy on the steps over there and then climb to the roof and escape on a flying machine supplied by Leonardo da Vinci!”

I never knew video games were so educational!

A couple of weeks ago! Me and my boyfriend had a long weekend in Amsterdam which was brilliant. It was to celebrate finishing my thesis. Last week I was away in Dortmund, Germany on a conference. Although it was work I had a day in Dortmund after the conference to have a look around. Also the conference dinner and evening events were in interesting places in Dortmund. It was great.

My wife and I like to travel. We are both very interested in wildlife and so we tend to spend our holidays going to another country to try and see one particular animal. Out last holiday was in May when we went to Costa Rica where we hoped to see Leatherback Turtles and Hummingbirds – but not at the same time! We were lucky enough to sit with a Leatherback Turtle one night whilst she dug a nest on the beach and laid her eggs – magic. We also saw loads of hummingbirds on the trip.
