I like talking about science, as you may have guessed, but it seemed like it was really going to be fun -and I have to say its fantastically well organised, and the chats are a riot..

I thought it’d be a brilliant chance to get to talk about my science with you guys. I love talking about science, I’ve loved meeting the other guys in the group and the competition part just adds a bit of fun. I hope you guys have enjoyed chatting with us?

Hi Salvatore – I thought it would be fun to try to answer all sorts of questions from school students from around the country. (It’s hard work keeping up with the millions of questions but I think all the scientists here would agree that it is really enjoyable too.)

I am very passionate about science – it is one of the most important things in my life – and I am a bit sad that it seems to get a ‘bad press’ at times, both among school children and the general public. I think it’s a really exciting and important subject.

More importantly I think that lots of people over-estimate how difficult it is to do science or to be a scientist. So I thought this competition would be a good way to show you guys that most scientist are pretty ordinary people. It’s just that they are lucky enough to be able to do interesting experiments as part of their job.

I’d be really interested to know what you and your friends think about the competition. Is it fun for you? What are you getting out of it?

I thought it would be fun to chat abut science with you guys as this is something I love to do. I didn’t think we’d be getting questions on so many topics and I’m learning quite a lot of things about myself in trying to answer them – so thanks for making me think about stuff I haven’t thought about for quite a while, if at all!
